This green filamentous algae (Spirogyra) grows in spiral filaments that quickly tangle together into dense mats. Left untreated, blanket weed clogs pumps and filters, blocks pipework, restricts sunlight, and reduces oxygen levels, threatening the health of fish and aquatic plants.
The EL-WW-ECO+ blanket weed controller is designed to tackle these challenges in ponds up to 18,000 litres (around 4,000 gallons). Building on the proven ECO model, the ECO+ uses a powerful dual-antenna system and advanced two-stage action to provide stronger and more reliable blanket weed control.
Unlike chemical pond weed treatments or manual clearing, the ECO+ offers a permanent, maintenance-free solution. By generating a controlled, low-frequency magnetic field, the unit changes the balance of calcium forms in the water. This disrupts the growth mechanism of blanket weed, forcing rapid but unsustainable growth that the algae cannot maintain. Fitting the ECO+ Blanket Pond Weed Controller is quick and requires no plumbing or specialist tools:
Place the two antennas around the pond’s pipework, ideally between the pump and filter.
Mount the control unit close to the pipe using the screws provided.
Plug the power supply into a standard UK socket.
Once installed, the ECO+ runs automatically and continuously, keeping blanket weed under control without the need for further intervention.
